SimplePay is a fast-growing software company that’s been delighting customers for nearly 10 years. We’re a small, customer-centric team doing big things, with over 13 000 companies using our system across four regions (South Africa, Singapore, Ireland and Hong Kong). Our software lets these thousands of small business owners (and their accountants) run their payrolls without headaches, so they can focus on the challenge of building their businesses. We’ve seen phenomenal success and growth in our original market – South Africa – and are now looking to do the same in the Singaporean (and possibly wider Asian) market in the same way. To expand our reach into Asia, we’ve recently started hiring in Singapore.

Product Specialist

Please note: at this early stage of recruitment in Singapore we’re only able to consider Citizens and Permanent Residents.

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and ambitious graduate to get in on the ground floor and help guide and drive our ascent to the top of the Singapore market. The role will initially be multi-functional and you’ll deal with several aspects of the customer life-cycle (detailed below) but as we grow, so will you – there is ample scope for the right individual to build their dream team and take ownership of this entire region in the not so distant future.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Organise and present product demonstrations with prospective clients
  • Sales and customer onboarding
  • After-sales support
    • Note that this won’t be your main focus but there will be some involvement. It is also the best way to learn the business inside out
  • Attend meetings with potential accounting firm partner and eventually take ownership of this process
  • Log missing information to ensure that our internal and client-facing knowledge bases are always up to date
  • Escalate bugs and feature requests 

Minimum Requirements

  • High level of written and verbal English
  • Ability to learn quickly and assimilate complex concepts into something easily digestible and understandable
  • Good interpersonal skills

Bonus Points

  • A degree with a commerce and / or marketing and / or business focus
  • Prior customer facing experience

Experienced Full Stack Ruby on Rails Developer

To keep up with our growing customer base’s needs we’re looking to add some more experienced talent to our already strong and effective dev team. The dev team was already mostly remote pre-pandemic and the entire company is now working remotely. Ideally, we would like someone who’s keen to join the CT office team once the world goes back to normal; however, we are also open to semi- or full remote work as well.

Stack:

  • Our work is back-end-heavy Ruby on Rails and we use PostgreSQL as our data store. We use a bit of Vue.js but believe server-side rendering is still the best default.

Experience:

  • Due to our full pipeline, we are ideally looking to hire developers who have a few years of Rails experience at this time, or highly experienced polyglots who at least know some Ruby.
  • That said, if you fit the rest of the bill and are keen to learn Ruby on Rails while contributing meaningfully to our clients and working with a dedicated and passionate bunch of people, this could be a good fit for you.

The work will include:

  • Doing direct integrations with other systems (hopefully banks too, eventually). Expanding our API for other systems to integrate with us.
  • Adding new features.
  • Optimising for performance.
  • Integrating with government systems.
  • Squashing bugs.
  • Improving security.
